Whisky Galore - The Remake
St. Andrew's Society of LA presents the US premiere of Whisky Galore The Remake.
Whisky Galore, is based on the classic 1949 film of the same name adapted from the immortal novel by Sir Compton Mackenzie that tells the story of whisky shortage, ship aground with liquid cargo, and its theft by Scottish villagers who see the event as an answer to their prayers.
Faced with a ship run aground off their shore the villagers seize their opportunity in plundering the cargo before the authorities arrive.
As the story unfolds, this truly charming tale presents uniquely portrayed performances with endearing and mischievous characters that make it a memorable classic.
The remake is directed by the accomplished Gillies Mackinnon, who uses the real life events of 1941 coupled with the rugged landscape of Scotland to make this retelling of the story a precious gem.
Not to be outdone are the talents of a new generation of British actors who imbue this film with memorable performances.
Following the screening members of the films production team and cast will be present for a Q&A and to discuss the remaking of this classic.
VIP whisky tasting, live bag piping, highland dancing, and men in kilts completes this special evening of Scottish entertainment.
